All wheel building and servicing at SPD Spokes is done by hand in our Bristol workshop. We don't outsource builds or rush the process — every wheel is laced, tensioned, stress-relieved, and trued to tight tolerances before it leaves us.
Our services include:
- Custom wheel builds — specify your own hubs and rims, or let us spec the full build for your riding style and budget. Road, MTB, track, gravel, and touring builds all welcome.
- Wheel truing — lateral and radial correction for wheels that have gone out of true. We check spoke tension as part of the process.
- Re-spoking — replace broken or worn spokes on an existing wheel, matched to the original gauge and pattern where possible.
- Wheel rebuilds — lace existing hubs and rims with new spokes. A cost-effective way to extend the life of quality components.
- Spoke tension check and adjustment — for wheels that feel harsh, flex under load, or keep going out of true. Often the fix is a proper tension equalisation rather than a full rebuild.
